Tom and I (and many others) grew up together in Spring Lake. We played together and rode our bikes everywhere. Of course, we all had to go to Grand Haven High School because there wasn't a high school in Spring Lake at that time. Tom was on our football teams there and, as always, was very successful. He did so much for the small village of Spring Lake over the years. He will be remembered as a man who gave of himself tirelessly.
